Frank Santiago, Chief Executive Officer and President
Frank Santiago took over his responsibilities at MR Instruments Inc. on September 17, 2009. Prior to that he served on the Board of MR Instruments as well as several other small cap medical companies. His career in the medical technology industry has spanned over 37 years.
After college he accepted a position with Ayerst Laboratories in New York as a Field Technical Specialist with their Cardiovascular Division. Shortly after he joined J&J, where for four years he continued on the technology side, as a national training manager with the responsibility for bridging the gap between the technology group and sales and marketing. His next assignment came from Baxter Laboratories where he assumed sales and marketing responsibilities in the North American division.
In 1986, after twelve years and a variety of upper management and executive positions, in the medical industry, Mr. Santiago created his own medical diagnostics company, Hemotech Systems Inc. This company was eventually sold in 1997 to the Saitama Group in Japan.
Mr. Santiago spent his next five years with ATS Medical as an officer of the company and the Vice President of Sales and Marketing for domestic and international operations. In 2002, one of the international companies that he was working with, FH Orthopedics SAS France, hired him as CEO for US operations out of New York. He spent four and a half years at this position before leaving in order to set up a medical consulting concern.
Mr. Santiago is currently on the Board of several small cap medical companies and has been an active investor in emerging, medical technology companies throughout his career.
Joshua Holwell, Chief Operating Officer
Joshua Holwell joined MR Instruments, Inc. in 2005 as an Electrical Engineer. He was the principle engineer for the 32CH Head Coil which was the first of its kind to be clinically marketed. He then served as the Director of Business Development from 2008-2010 and was successful in placing a number of products under supplier contracts with major OEMs.
Mr. Holwell attended the University of Minnesota as the Electrical Engineering Graduate Fellow and received a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering with an emphasis in RF Design which was honed at the Center for Magnetic Resonance Research. Mr. Holwell also graduated in the top of his class with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering, with Highest Distinction, from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester, MA.
In the past, Mr. Holwell has worked with NASA and Air Force Research Labs to design GPS based guidance systems for satellites and has also lead associated Configuration Management teams to meet flight operational health and safety requirements. Mr. Holwell is a member of Institute for Electrical annd Electronic Engineers, International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine, and Eta Kappu Nu: Electrical Engineering Honor Society. Mr. Holwell also holds patents and publications related to MR Imaging.
Lauri Johnson, Vice President of Sales & Marketing
Ms. Johnson joined MR Instruments in 2011 and has an extensive and successful background in MR Clinical Imaging, Sales and Marketing. Ms. Johnson is an ARRT Certified Technologist in MR and graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Allied Health Management from Hiram College. She has been published multiple times in the field of MRI and has held senior positions in both sales and marketing at GE Healthcare and Philips Medical Systems and has been actively involved in multiple new MR product launches. Additionally, Ms. Johnson spent five years teaching MR Physics and Cross-Sectional Anatomy at Lakeland College in Cleveland, Ohio. She is a member of the ARRT, Strathmore’s Who’s Who for Leadership and Achievement in your profession and Sigma Society, a Professional Sales Honor Society for GE Healthcare.
George Quisno, Sales Manager
George Quisno has been in the medical imaging industry since 1976. He started his career out of college (BSEE) with GE Medical Systems spending seven years there in various Marketing and Sales positions. He then jumped over to Philips Medical Systems for five years in Sales and Sales Specialist roles. His career then led him to a start-up RF coil company called Medical Advances, Inc. (MAI) where he helped to grow the company’s sales to $8M in annual sales. He spent six years with MAI before they were acquired by Intermagnetics (IGC), which was subsequently acquired by Philips. All totaled, George has spent more than 35 years in the medical sales industry. We are happy to have him managing our sales efforts.
